Wilk Elektronik introduces ISO 14001 environmental management standard

Wilk Elektronik SA, a Polish manufacturer of computer memory and owner of the Goodram and IRDM brands, has introduced an environmental management system in line with the ISO 14001 standard. The certificate was awarded by Quality Austria Polska on the basis of the positive result of the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 compliant Integrated Management System audit conducted in September.

The implementation of the ISO 14001 environmental management system is another step in the company’s sustainable development strategy. As a computer memory manufacturer that is aware of the impact it has on the surrounding, Wilk Elektronik places environmental protection and minimising the negative impact of its activities on the ecosystem as a priority.

It pursues this objective both through operational measures but also through innovations in its brand portfolio. At the end of 2020, the Goodram brand launched the UME ECO FRIENDLY USB flash drive, the casing of which is made of 100% biodegradable materials that decompose in compost conditions. What’s more, some of the Polish manufacturer’s Flash products are offered in packaging created from 85% recyclates.

We are convinced that the environmental management system will enable us to control our impact on the nature even more effectively. Obtaining the ISO 14001 certificate is also a clear signal for our present and potential customers, for whom a rightly pro-environmental attitude of the company is often one of the conditions of successful cooperation” – says Wiesław Wilk, President of Wilk Elektronik SA.

As part of its environmental management system, Wilk Elektronik SA carries out a number of activities aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing the consumption of plastics and raw materials and limiting emissions of pollutants. This manifests itself primarily in the reduction of production waste, rational use of energy sources, raising environmental awareness among employees, customers and component suppliers.

In addition to the ISO 14001 standard that has been introduced, Wilk Elektronik is also covered by the ISO 9001 Quality Management System for the production and sale of DRAM modules and Flash memory.
